Things I Love Right Now
What I’m pinning/keep-ing/loving.Osborne & Little Butterfly Garden Wallpaper So beautiful. Co cool. I am hoping a client will agree to use it in her half-bathroom.
Ray-Ban Aviators with Mirrored Lens I’m loving these glasses right now. Plus, Nordies told me mirrored lenses are trending.
North Face Becca Jacket This jacket is surprisingly warm and I love that it has a little more style than the usual fleece jacket. I’m planning to live in this thing for the next 4 months.
Threshold Tufted Bench This glamorous piece is only $100.
Revlon Extra Life No-Chip Top Coat I bought this a week ago and gave myself a diy mani. I am blown away by the results. That “Extra Life No-Chip” claim seems to be TRUE.
Pyramid Pillow Wisteria just announced their new pillows for Spring 2014. This one is my favorite.
“Holla-day” Decor
A variety of factors that I won’t go into here have kept us from going big in the holiday decor department this year. However, my heart skipped a beat when I saw Kristin’s Holla-day Home Tour posted on her blog. I love how she took traditional elements and put her own young, fun, even diy spin on them. And I definitely love the graphic black + white elements. I hope you enjoy the photos as much as I did.

Cindy Sherman’s House In AD
I just ran across a piece in Architectural Digest on Cindy Sherman’s farmhouse in the Hamptons and had to share. It is lovely! Such a perfect mix of bohemian and homey while still looking very pulled together.

A New Look
Whew! I have finally completed the very long process of redesigning my website and switching to WordPress. I hope you enjoy the new look and feel of the site. . The launch of the new site coincides nicely with the near completion of another very long project – our house addition that I wrote about here. We are getting close to finishing up the construction phase. Our contractor even dropped the phrase “move in” last week. Be still my beating heart! This means that I get to start the decorating phase. And that will be so much more fun to share on this blog than all the “during” photos of framing, drywall, etc. But in case you like that stuff (or you’re my dad who keeps asking me to send him photos) here’s what you’ve missed: ..

PB Roman Shades
I recently ordered the Pottery Barn Cordless Roman Shades for a client and was super impressed. Roman Shades are such a great alternative to drapes but the cords involved make them dangerous for households with kids. The mechanism in these shades means that they truly are cordless and also that they roll themselves up once you give the “tug” to start the process, making for a cool party trick. For this project I decided to customize them with some grosgrain ribbon. You can actually get the shades with grosgrain in neutral colors from PB (but without the blackout lining) or in brighter colors (and blackout lining) from PB Teen. But we wanted yellow for this project so we DIY’d.
First, I extended the shade fully and laid it out on a work surface. Then I pinned the ribbon 1.5″ in from the side down the length of the shade. For the corners I folded on the diagonal to create a mitered corner.
Then I used my trusty Fabric-Tac glue to adhere the ribbon to the shade. I went back and put an extra drop or two in the mitered corners to make sure it held and no white would show through.
